The stop at Nemea is also a place where the runners can stop, eat, and get medical assistance. It has an air of a busy military medical centre. Pain, fear and uncertainty govern the atmosphere. We decided to introduce Pan at this point because Arcadia is his territory and, according to Herodotus, it was near here that the God sat and talked to Pheidippides, albeit when the runner was on his way back to Marathon
